PRESS RELEASE
The 1st informative event on the Operation of the Regional Mechanism for Support and Development of Social Entrepreneurship in the Region of Crete was successfully held on Monday, April 15, 2024, at the Hall of the Rethymno Chamber of Commerce.
Brief greetings were delivered by the Deputy Regional Governor for Entrepreneurship, Mr. Vamvoukas, and the Deputy Mayor of Rethymno for Social Policy, Ms. Anna Eleftheriadou-Gkika.
The event was opened by Regional Councilor and Chairman of the Company, Mr. Efstratios Flemetakis, who conveyed the vision of the Region of Crete for a “Creative Crete with identity, intelligent and dynamic with social cohesion, sustainable with shared values and self-confidence.”
Attendees were informed about European institutions and Greek legislation regarding Social and Solidarity Economy by Mr. Georgios Merambeliotakis, a staff member of ETAM S.A.
The Director of the Regional Development Company of Crete S.A., Ms. Maria Petrantonaki, presented the program “Operation of the Regional Mechanism for Support and Development of Social Entrepreneurship in the Region of Crete,” as well as good prior practices and examples of social enterprises in the Region of Crete.
Mr. Drakonakis, a staff member of ETAM S.A., informed on behalf of the Managing Authority of the Region of Crete about the upcoming call for funding Social and Solidarity Economy entities, to be launched under the Regional Program “Crete 2021-2027” with a budget of €2,000,000.
Present were the Mayor of Mylopotamos, Mr. Georgios Klados; Regional Councilors Ms. Evangelia Dermitzaki and Mr. Evangelos Tsouderos; members of social enterprises; and citizens.
The next informative event will take place on Wednesday, April 17, at 6:00 PM at the Chania Chamber of Commerce.
