“Collaborative Innovation Clusters / 2nd Call – Enterprises” is co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and National Resources under the Operational Programme “Competitiveness, Entrepreneurship and Innovation (EPAnEK)” of the NSRF 2014–2020.
As part of this study, a field survey was conducted, which recorded and evaluated, on one hand, the preferences and impressions of digital nomads who have already visited Crete, and on the other, explored the conditions and capabilities for offering digital nomadism services in specific rural locations.
Digital nomads create opportunities and dynamics for multifaceted development in the places they visit and reside, essentially making the phenomenon a multi-level accelerator for the creation of sustainable local economies and societies.
Within the framework of the project, the Regional Development Company of Crete S.A. undertook the preparation of an Integrated Hosting Plan for Digital Nomads in Crete.
The study, titled “Integrated Hosting Plan for Digital Nomads in Crete,” sets as its central strategic goal for the Region of Crete the development of a de-urbanized and decentralized model of digital nomadism in the island’s rural and inland areas. The core argument highlights Crete’s comparative advantages as a digital nomad destination, proposes 5 spatial development zones for digital nomadism, and identifies related needs, leading to specific policy proposals and measures.
