For the first time, the Small Hydroelectric Power Station (M.Y.H.S.) Agyia was awarded the Greek Green Award at the “6th International Exhibition Verde.Tec: Innovation & Technology for the Environment” in the category “Hydroelectric Project Award – role model”. The award was received by the new President of the Regional Development Company of Crete (PANETAIK S.A.) and Regional Councilor, Efstratios Flemetakis. Although it has been actively operating as a public visitor site for less than two years, the M.Y.H.S. Agyia has earned warm praise from the scientific and educational community. The award is the result of excellent collaboration and is a special honor for PANETAIK S.A., which undertook its organization and operation, marking the first time it has been granted to an industrial heritage site.
The company’s director, Maria Petrantonaki, states:
“Two years of impeccable cooperation with organizations such as the Technical University of Crete, the Technical Chamber of Greece/Chania Branch, the Secondary Education Scientific Association of Chania, as well as local private individuals and entrepreneurs, have borne fruit highlighting our love for our land, its culture, and history. A pioneering project for its time that continues to surprise us even today. The M.Y.H.S. Agyia tells us about the past and enchants us for the future, which is why its people continue to design and implement new actions and programs.”
According to a related announcement, the Greek Green Awards annually honor organizations, local government bodies, and companies that have put scientific knowledge and technological innovation at the service of the environment.
The Regional Development Company of Crete S.A. thanks everyone who contributed to this award.
