The Land Festival opens its doors on Wednesday, July 2nd, at the courtyard of the 1st Experimental Gymnasium of Chania (Municipal Market Square) at 6:00 p.m., and its events will continue until Sunday, July 6th.
With the slogan “Chania – a place to come, a way to live,” the Land Festival unites Local Government, Foundations, Organizations, Businesses, Producers, and cultural groups in a celebration of experiential acquaintance with Chania.
The Festival is held under the Auspices of the Region of Crete and is the result of collaboration between the Region/Regional Unit of Chania, all Municipalities of the Chania Regional Unit, and the Chania Chamber of Commerce.
Visitors will have the opportunity to get to know the natural and productive wealth of Chania, the activities of Municipalities, Foundations, and organizations, as well as the products of productive enterprises of Crete and especially those of Chania.
At the same time, visitors and participants will discover the added value hidden in the stories and culture of Cretan land products, experience the handmade element which is a unique and timeless “key” to discovering some of the most authentic experiences of the region, and participate in experiential workshops and presentations organized by Municipalities, businesses, and organizations. For the first time this year, they will also experience our rich intangible cultural heritage through activities specially designed for this purpose.
A rich traditional gastronomic program will be added to our list of events, featuring antikristo, traditional hilopites (handmade pasta), and other dishes that represent the hallmark of our Cretan culinary tradition. This action is part of the project “Crete European Region of Gastronomy 2026”.
Creative activities and educational programs for children, focusing on nutrition and environmental issues, will also take place in a specially designed area.
Finally, a rich cultural program with music and dance ensembles will offer entertainment and fun to both local and foreign visitors of the Festival. Joining us are Zoidakis, Kontaros, Malaksianakis, Vamvakas with Evangelia, and the group KYKLOS!
On Sunday, July 6th, the LAND FESTIVAL celebrates the Maritime Week!
Participation registrations can be found in the attached file.
The detailed program will be announced in a joint press release by the organizations in the coming days.
The Organizing Committee invites all residents of Chania to experience the Land Festival and encourages tourism entrepreneurs to invite foreign visitors to get to know, in a concentrated way through the Festival, Chania, its products, and its people.
